At Hull Christian School, our mission is to educate covenant children in the light of God’s Word, preparing them for a life of Christian discipleship, responsible stewardship, and humble service in His Kingdom. HCS recognizes that each student is unique and has their own strengths and challenges. A strengths-based lens helps us identify skills that are already established and skills that need a little encouragement to flourish.

The school counselor forms relationships with each student through regular classroom lessons as well as through small lunch bunch groups. Each class (PreK - 8) receives whole-class lessons which focus on a variety of topics throughout the school year, such as test anxiety, friendship, and conflict resolution. These lessons are age appropriate and tailored to each classroom’s needs. Students also may meet with the counselor on an individual basis, offering an additional layer of support. Common concerns addressed through counseling include anxiety, friendship struggles, and self-esteem challenges.

Referrals for student counseling can be made by parents, teachers, or the students themselves. The counselor strives to work in community with all those that love and care for the student.
